Milos $20.11 Lunch

I had the lunch special this week at Estiatorio Milos in the Cosmopolitan. What a great deal!!!

You get three courses for $20.11, though there are a couple of upcharge options. My appetizer was one of those options, an extra ten dollars for char broiled octopus. My main was lavraki (sea bass) with horta (similar to spinach). For dessert, karidopita (walnut cake).

The lavraki, in particular, was outstanding...one of the best fishes I've had.

Service was excellent and the room is very attractive. I believe the lunch special is usually on the patio but there was a group out there so I was served at a banquette in the dining room.

I strongly suggest you take advantage of this deal.

I had the luncheon special on my itinerary for next month and planning on ordering lavraki so your post is timely. How was the lavraki prepared?

Char-grilled, then split and deboned. Just a touch of olive oil, I think. Very simple preparation but extremely fresh fish perfectly cooked.

Thanks for the great find. I will give it a try for sure on this trip. Any other recommnedation in this range for lunch. I was thinking 3 course meal at Payard for lunch at Caesars as I would prefer to have a decent lunch over the tasteless buffets.

We had another lunch at Comme Ca right next door to Milos. Quite good, but not as much of a deal.

I've always liked The Palm Steakhouse's "business lunch" $24.95 special, especially sitting out on the "sidewalk" in the Forum Shops at Caesars.

And, speaking of sidewalks, another favorite lunch place in this range is the actual outdoor sidewalk tables at Mon Ami Gabi.

Thanks Joey I did try Milos on this trip and boy what a great value for good quality food. Service was a bit slow but the food made up for it. I had the grilled octopus (10$ add on) which was great. Main was Lamb (what else would you have at a Greek place :)) Dessert was almond dessert. My friend had the lentil salad sea bass and went with the almond dessert. I think all the items were done just right. They only do lunch Wednesday to Sunday though as I wanted to try it out again but couldn't. At this price run don't walk. Enjoy!

Al Mancini has a very positive review in this (April 28) week's issue of LV Citylife:

I tried Milos' great lunch prix fixe deal as well with two friends as well! Of the things we ordered, my favorite were the shrimp saganaki (featuring a duo of HUGE shrimp) for the app, the Lavraki for the main, and the yogurt martini or the Karidopita Me Pagoto for desserts.

I called Cosmopolitan's concierge and she said they do lunch everyday.

I am glad you liked the lunch as well. No they are not open for lunch everyday. I also talked to concierge at Cosmopolitan so I wanted to try them again on Monday. Alas they were closed when I showed up :( in the afternoon.

That's funny... I ate there the past Monday, April 25th at 12 PM.

Unless I was really jet lagged (coming from NYC) and lost the track of days.

I went to Milos around the Easter weekend. Overall, I found the lunch to be an excellent deal for the delicious, simply prepared food and the beautiful dining space.

But my biggest tiff was the service. It seems uneven that the servers took away our bread basket and olive oil at the beginning of our second course and cleared away my dining companions' plates before I finished. Maybe I'm overanalyzing or persnickety at this but this isn't supposed to happen.

Now that you mention it, they took my olive oil bottle away midstream, though not the bread itself. Still, that lavraki was stupendous.

Maybe the chef doesn't want anyone to add olive oil to his prepared dishes? Kinda like no salt and pepper on the table..Just guessing. Otherwise it does seem odd.

I can't confirm this, but the rumor is that next year they will be raising the price, unfortunately.

That rumor is based on the rumor that our economy is getting better. Never believe rumors!

I just went there this last weekend

The shrimp app was amazing and delicious

They were out of the Brazino but the subbed another white fish that was very good

I was disappointed by the almond cake dessert, however the mrs liked the yogurt martini and she also loved the salad app, that had huge chunkes of cheese in it, i sampled the salad and it was very good

The biggest complaint was the timing of the service, the lunch took 2+ hours we had to leave early and the rest of the group hung out for dessert (we took ours to go)

The service itself was great but they dragged it out a long time, maybe to make up the difference in price by having extra rounds of drinks (which is what happened) so it made it a bit more expensive heh - but if not drinking a good value with solid food

i would probably go with a more creative main next time, however i had to look good in the wedding suit so white fish and shrimp were perfect :)
