Movie Popcorn.

Expensive as anything now you normally have to pay between 6-8$ for a bag of movie popcorn, is there any way to make popcorn with that authentic movie popcorn taste?

Has anyone bought one of those 70$ popcorn makers from Zellers or Wal-mart and are they any good?

  1. I think that "authentic" movie flavor is just part of the movie experience. Just pop your own popcorn and pour some melted butter over top and in the middle if you want. You probably still wont be able to get it just the same unless you have it in one of those big paper bags and are sitting in front of a big screen...

    1. Isn't movie flavour just fake butter and loads of salt? If homemade proper popcorn with real butter doesn't taste right, how about one of the microwave popcorns? I don't know how far you need to go between your house and the cinema but pop one and take it in your bag, let the steam out or take it cold.

I've never had I Can't Believe it's Not Butter but how about spraying that all over your popcorn?

We skipped popcorn the other day, it was $37 just for me and the kiddo to go in. Bloody 3D everything!

I was about to write something here about when I was a kid I could go to the movies, have a happy meal and pay bus fare there and back for less than $5, but then I would be like those people who say "I remember when I was a kid..."

      1. Movie theaters pop their popcorn in Hydrogenated Coconut Oil and use Flavacol to flavor it. You can buy Flavacol online. It's essentially Salt, artificial butter flavoring, food coloring and soy. Even if you don't use the coconut oil, the Flavacol will give you the flavoring you are looking for. Artificial Butter Flavoring is not the best thing for you, so if you decide to use Flavacol, use it sparingly.

        1. As stated above Flavcol is the taste you know but you can do a very good aping with Coconut Oil, real Butter and Salt.
The Coconut Oil taste is pretty key to the "Movie" Popcorn flavor.
