Bakery in Nassau County?

janie Apr 14, 2011 08:01 PM

Looking for good bakery in Nassau, prefer vicinity of Westbury/Carle Place--having a birthday party at Anthony's coal oven pizza, and want to bring in a cake..and need a custom Batman (1966 era) cake made--that looks cool and more importantly, is wonderful inside....

Any suggestions?

Read something about Maria's Bakery in Westbury, and Dortoni's in Levittown....

Thanks for the help.

Anyone have an opinion on Butter Cookery Bakery for cakes in Floral Park--between Malvern or Butter Cookery, or Maria's which would be best choice for cake? Thanks...

Maria's and Buttercooky (in Floral Park and Manhasset) are both very good. And, as stefathena mentions above, in Port Washington St. Honore is good as is Baked to Perfection.

Thank you...decided to go with Malverne, as their price was very good, and ended up needing a smaller cake, and did it with ganache on top and no photo on it--picking it up tommorow night, so will report back on Friday on how it was----------Buttercooky was more expensive--and I was curious to try Malverne as I read they use European butter--and old style methods--------so we'll see.
Will check out Maria's, as I'm in Westbury a lot shopping...

St. Honore in Port Washington is AMAZING.

thanks...however, Port Washington is way out of the way for me--need something that is on route to Carle Place locale, or bit south or north of there, and easily reached by expressway.
Will try them when I'm out that way, though..

I also recommend Sweet Karma in East Meadow. The Bakery in Plainview is good for custom cakes (not so great for regular stuff), however they will be closed for Passover

Can anyone give an opinion about the cakes at Malverne Pastry Shop...after some more consideration, I really don't want a fondant cake--Neither myself or my son likes the flavor, even though the design possiblities are greater--------Need the Batman cake this week, and read a few good things about Malverne--and it seems they are fairly anti-fondant--didn't like the looks of the custom cakes on the Dortoni site, and Maria's can't find info for--Front Street Bakery in Rockville had some nice looking cakes----anyone who's been to all of these that can comment? Thank you for the help...

Maria's is very good. They are on Post Ave. about 1/2 mile north of Old Country Road.

          Post Ave Cafe
173 Post Ave, Westbury, NY 11590

Sweet Karma desserts in East Meadow on East Meadow Road does custom cakes. I've had their individual desserts (more often than I should!) and those are fantastic. A little further from your location, but not by too much.

I don't know if they're good for what you want, but I've always preferred Francesco's by the Levittown-Hicksville-Bethpage border over Dortoni's.
