Breakfasts Dupont Circle

Husband and I are coming to visit September 11-16. Just vacation, dates fell when we can get off work.

Staying at Palomar, Dupont Circle. Am slowly putting together a list of possible food places, it's overwhelming, but as usual the Chow community is a great help. I trawl the local Chicago board as well as other boards when we visit other places.

Anyway, I guess it'd be easiest for breakfast if we eat in the area of the hotel. We will be taking the Metro everywhere, and while I have a rough idea of our list of things to see it's not worked out day to day yet. Mostly waiting to hear about when our requested tour times will be granted.

So far for breakfast (4 possibly 5 meals) I have (in no order):
Luna Grill
Kate Leopold--out of the area but we might go down to see the canal
Tabard Inn
Le Pain Quotidian

Don't want to blow the budget on breakfast, as we will be eating nicer dinners and possibly lunches as well. Any thoughts on this list or other places near Dupont to check?
Thanks.... my annoying lunch and dinner lists to follow in the next few months.

  1. Across the street from your hotel on the corner is SoHo Cafe. They have an awesome breakfast burrito. Also almost across from the hotel is a bagel shop where you can get cheap bagels, breakfast sandwiches etc. And Crepes A-Go-Go makes breakfast items (I think).

Kramerbooks is good for breakfast. As is Cafe Dupont (they have a great corned beef hash, if you are looking for something heavier).

Luna Grill is good for eggs, omelets etc. The service is only so-so though.

    1. Mixed reviews here but Urbana would be just the ticket for a rainy evening.

I think Urbaba is great. When is the last time you tried it? They have a new chef that is fantastic. Order a bunch of appetizers and small plates and enjoy a bottle of wine. You'll be thrilled with your meal.
