Looking for coffee / chicory blend

Hi folks - I'm on the hunt for coffee with chicory, like a Cafe du Monde or something of that ilk. Anyone know of readily available brands and a good source in the Boston area?

the "New Orleans Blend" they sell at Trader Joes is pretty good -- it's a coffee/chickory blend.

Has anyone seen a decaf coffee/chicory blend (any brand) around here? I'd like to use it for iced coffee, which is too easy for me to consume in dangerous amounts to risk the full-test version.

I had to order cafe du monde decaf on line as I could not find any at the Asian markets around Boston. I have found French Market brand at market basket in Bellingham, MA.

That's too bad, it used to be ubiquitous at local Asian markets.

Well, I found the regular but not the Decaf at the store. Decaf I ordered from an asian market website. I see they have it at Amazon, kind of pricey though.

Trader Joe's has carried a "New Orleans" style coffee for the last year or two that is a chicory coffee, probably $7.99 for the container?

Cardullo's in Harvard Sq. had Cafe Du Monde today. $12.99 a can I believe.

Yeah, I definitely chuckled this morning when I bagged a pound of Cafe du Monde at Super88 for 5 bucks. Take that, 'Bucks.

pretty sure I got my last can of cafe du monde at roche brothers. I think they might even have more than one brand of chicory coffee.

All of the Asian grocery stores have Cafe du Monde at VERY reasonable prices. Chinatown, Kam Man in Quincy, Hong Kong Market in Allston, H-Mart in Burlington, etc. etc.

They sell a LOT of it at most of them. I have bought it a few times and was surprised at how nice and fresh it was.

I think it is often used for Vietnamese coffee, etc.

Fabulous - thanks all! Vietnamese coffee was exactly what I had planned. Anyone happen to spot a Vietnamese drip coffee filter at one of those Asian markets?

For sure. The same markets always have the filters.

you can usually find the ca phe phin (drip coffee filter) in the appliance aisle but some of the vietnamese markets keep them behind the front counter

any asian market should have cafe du monde. especially a vietnamese market or a se asian market. you could also use cafe ong tho or trung nguyen coffee but neither of them have ground chicory mixed in like cafe du monde

Some of the Market Baskets carry Cafe du Monde--I've seen it at the Salem MB and the Danvers MB in the Asian food section.

C-Mart in Chinatown and Kam Man in Quincy also carry it.

Trader Joe's used to have chickory coffee, but it seems to be gone now. Don't know if it's gone for good, or what.

I went looking for chicory coffee several months ago and ended up buying chicory root from the Naturals store in Porter Square and grinding it myself.

If I remember, Whole Foods in Alewife claimed to have carried the chicory coffee at one point, but did not have any in stock.

Please let me know if you find it. Makes a great rub on pork.

Thanks - I really see that now....people really had no clue when I was looking for it - I had no idea it figured so prominently in Asian/Vietnamese cuisine. .. will definitely have to sniff that out the next time I am up at H-Mart, etc.
