Outstanding house-made veggie burger at Greenburger's

Tried this new burger place in the Lower Haight today for lunch and couldn't stop commenting on how good the house-made veggie burger was after I left. The Greenburger is made from organic black beans, beets, oats, brown rice, and spices and is served on a brioche roll; I had it with sauteed onions and mushrooms (no cheese), and it was terrific: a little spicy, with a nice creamy texture that melded well with the soft/creamy-like toasted brioche roll. I got the sweet potato fries for a dollar extra, and they were also fresh and delicious.

I loved the fixins bar--on an old Coke cooler and a Wedgewood stove--which included house-made pickles (kind of mild), though were the restaurant busy that fixins bar would be a logjam cuz it's so small.

I also loved the space: airy and light and homey, with the owners' charming family photos and memorabilia on the walls. My dining companion had the regular burger and enjoyed it as well. The menu also includes things like a lamb burger, salads, pulled pork, meatloaf, "chicken" fried tempeh, mac 'n' cheese, and a New Orleans-style bread pudding. The owners source local/sustainable fare wherever possible.

Our two burgers and a Coke ran us close to 30 bucks, so it's not a cheap lunch, but I would most definitely eat here again, and try other things on the menu.

Thanks for the report, I've been scanning the boards hoping to hear something about it. Looking forward to trying it out.

That's good to hear--a friend ate a meat-burger there last week and said he loved it. It's nice to have another non-slice spot in the neighborhood; with that and Palmyra, things are looking up on that strip.

I've eaten at Palmyra too (was glad to see something interesting replace Burger Joint). I liked it OK, but my SO loves that spot, the shawarma and especially the hot sauce.
