Salsa Lizano in CT?

Does any one know where to buy Lizano salsa, the condiment used in making Gallo pinto (rice and beans) and as a general condiment in Costa Rica? It is available on line, but I'd rather not pay $16 for a $3 bottle even though it is great stuff. When we traveling in CR we had gallo pinto every morning for breakfast and everyone made it just a little bit differently. And you also would see a bottle of Lizano on the table of a restaurant much as you see ketchup here.

Thanks for help.

C-Town carries it in several locations $3.50-$5 a bottle along with many other Tico items..
    Depending on location... of course

Hi, junescook! I asked my friend (who is from CR) for you as she's in the area where you're looking. Unfortunately, she just stocks up when she goes home. On a happy note, she is bringing some to work for me so I can try it. After reading about gallo pinto here (never having heard of it before), I saw recipes in two different places for it last week...and, of course, my friend makes it, too. Isn't that bizarre? But the introduction began with you, so thank you! A virtual friendly pat on the shoulder for you from your friend the kat. :)

Well thanks for trying, Kattyeyes. Ask her to keep an eye out for it please.

And I and my three boys all appreciate the scratch behind the ears. See if you cna find them in our Christmas photo:

I certainly will give her that message. And I'll scout around these parts as well and report back if I find it closer to your neck of the woods. Love that photo! It ended my day with a big smile. :)

That was actually the front of our Christmas card. It includes the whole family -- even Felix, the parrot.

Let me know if you make gallo pinto and how you like the sauce.

I recall seeing it at Chico's market in New Haven. Chico's is at the corner of Chapel and Ferry streets.
There's also a supermarket at the corner of Grand and Ferry, I can't remember the name, I think they have it too.

The suoermarket at Ferry and Grand is C-Town in the old Pegnataro's spot (boy I'm old).

I have also seen this product at Food Bazaar in Bridgeport in the former Shaw's location across from Home Depot
