Try a reservation? it has been a few months since I have been there but they did take reservations. No wait then.

They don't take reservations and they never have. Perhaps you are confusing the Bristol with another restaurant...? Their home page at www.thebristolchicago.com says, "The Bristol does not take reservations." This is also noted in the "First Look" in the Tribune's Metromix review when they first opened in late 2008: "As for reservations, don’t worry—they’re not accepted." http://chicago.metromix.com/restauran...

We usually go early or late and we have eaten at the bar, even when arriving around 9 because there was a wait for tables and we were too hungry to wait. They do have a space upstairs where you can have drinks and nibbles to help the time pass.

The Chicago Tribune just did an article about waiting times at the always-crowded places: http://chicago.metromix.com/restauran...

Here's what they said about the Bristol: "Peak wait: 1.5 hours at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Least wait: 30 minutes or less after 7:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays".
