Neptune on a Wednesday night

r

I'll be coming into Boston in May for a game at Fenway. Will be here Wednesday- Sunday with a couple of friends and I don't think I can come to Boston without getting a Lobster Roll from Neptune (Ive read amazing things about it on this board). Is it busy on a Wednesday night? What is the latest I could get there and still expect to get a seat? And is there a dress code there? Im coming for a baseball game with a few friends and don't plan on bringing anything nice to wear if I don't have to. Thanks!

It's busy pretty much every night once the weather gets warm. To be guaranteed a seat, you should be there by 5:00p. There is no dress code, you will be comfortable no matter what you wear.

We'll also be in Boston in May to watch the Cubbies sweep. My impression from the Neptune thread is that you could get there at 5 or six and if no tables were available, they would take your cell number and then you could go wander around nearby and they would call you when a table opened up. Is this a misunderstanding on my part?

You are correct, this is how Neptune operates. You can then stroll around the NE while you wait for a call. At 5 or 6, you shouldn't wait more than an hour for a table.

You're right. They will call you, but they don't serve crow.

            Not worried about eating crow.

Thanks for the help. Should be fun.

I guess when you're out here you'll have to do things backwards: eat dinner during the day and watch baseball at night. The Cubs are playing here over a weekend but they're all night games. Yech! How very wrong.

Busy in the cold weather, too. I was there immediately after a blizzard this winter. They had to open late, but we called so we knew. We got there when they opened and it literally filled up in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks for the input everybody. I too will be here to watch the Cubs win game 1 of the series on Friday night. Can't wait to get to Boston!

rog, i hope this is helpful and not confusing. Very close to Fenway are 2 spots to consider, one of which, Island Creek Oyster Bar (ICOB), has another highly touted lobster roll. It certainly would be hugely more convenient (one-time parking and reservations) to eat there. I have recently been to both Neptune Oyster and Island Creek Oyster Bar and I really love NO's tremendous food but i have never had a lobster roll at either place. ICOB is def more swank than NO but you can certainly dress casual/jeans there.

(the other fenway spot is mexican, La Verdad.)
