Following a month-long remodel, Saigon Sandwich is open again, much less cramped (and fewer snack items for sale) . Prices are up 25 cents per sandwich, still a good deal for excellent banh mi.

Yes, the cheaper sandwiches are now 3.25. I have loved their meatball sandwiches for years, but the one I had Saturday seemed a little different, maybe less black pepper. My friend loved the chicken. I can remember when you could get 5 banh mi for less than $10.

I assume most of the remodeling took place in back where they do the cooking. The front looked largely the same except that the long refrigerated case behind the register is gone. It seemed that they had fewer prepackaged items, but then I never bought those anyway.

Patty Unterman said they were still the best in January and I would have to agree.

Can anyone tell me the hours? I am staying nearby and a late night sandwich would be great! Also do they sell egg rolls?

I haven't been there but did find a reference to fresh gỏi cuốn, the rice paper wrapped shrimp roll.

Late night not a good time to be wandering the Tenderloin. I don't think they have classical Chinese egg rolls, but they do have a number of prewrapped prepared foods along with lots of chip like snacks, tapioca drinks, Asian fruit drinks and several flavors of beef jerky.
