        <content>Hi Chowhounds - I recently had an amazing meal at Kappo Hondo in Fountain Valley.  Miso glazed sea bass; broiled enoki mushrooms, ohotashi and tons of other great eats.  Do you know of a similar place in Japan Town?  If not there, how about in Los Angeles?</content>

      <content>Went there in October.  We were treated like royalty.  It was a great meal.  Sit at the bar and get omakase.  It's about $115 per person, but worth it.</content>

For a less formal dining experience, Izakaya Haru Ulala has some of the dishes you mentioned like the broiled enoki, shimeji (Oyster), and shiitake mushrooms, goma ae, broiled black cod in sake kasu.
 
It is a more casual pub like atsmosphere.  It's like a Japanese tapas bar.  It's more like Honda-ya than Kappo Hondo.
