Headed over to the bourbon trail in a few weeks. We're planning on doing the corn to cork tour on thursday morning which would have us being done just before noon. Was hoping to find a good spot for lunch in the nearby area. Ideally it'd either be on the way to buffalo trace or in the direction of wild turkey/four roses as those would be our most likely next destinations but it looks like versailles, frankfort & midway are all pretty durned close anyways.

  1. Definitely go to Wallace Station in Midway! It is only about 10 minutes from where Woodford Reserve is. Best sandwiches in KY!! My favorite is the Inside-Out Hot Brown!

Looks interesting, thanks. I've been burned a few times by places that had been featured on DDD (100% of the places I've tried that have been featured, mind you). Invariably it looked like they might have been great at one point but suffered over time due to the larger crowds, or whatever.

This hasn't been the case here?

No & I am wary of DDD places as well. I do not like the Parkette that is in Lexington & featured on DDD. But this is not the case with Wallace Station. Everything is made in their little kitchen & their main customer are the employees of the surrounding horse farms. Their food is incredible! I haven't tried the new "Big Brown" burger that was on DDD, but it looks good. It definitely is a MUST place to visit! Hope this helps!

Thanks. Will likely be checking it out!

I've always been very happy with 3D places however we steered clear of one place after locals said the didn't get why it made the show.

Anyway, Wallace Station isn't to be missed. Go for the ham and brie sandwich.

        1. Visit Melissa's Cottage Cafe in Versailles - it's on your way to Wild Turkey/Four Roses. It's on the way. Great southern cooking. The food is the best. Daily specials and home made desserts. It's in downtown Versailles on Main Street, just beyond the courthouse. Leaving Woodford Reserve, take a right on McCracken, it will take you straight into downtown Versailles, make a right at light, follow through next light and you'll see it on your right. Great place - it's worth it.

I'll second Melissa's. We were there about 3 weeks ago before heading over to Woodford--it was great for lunch.
