Just a simple little request: Where can I get the perfect grilled cheese sandwich in the GTA?

I haven't tried it but there's a place called The Grilled Cheese off of Augusta in Kensington.

Oh! I forgot about this place. It's okay - had only two kinds. Thought the mushroom one needed more mushrooms, but it did have a lot in there. I just wanted more :)

Oh - About Cheese on Church - they have pretty decent grilled cheese as well. No toppings though.

Any of these places let you choose the cheese?

I could go without the toppings, but I'd really like a cheese "bar" scenario where you get to choose the bread and the cheese...

Yes! Very generous portioning of cheese. Your choice of cheese.

LOVE LOVE LOVE About Cheese grilled cheese. They do not skimp at all on the cheese so you end up with a gooey, buttery mess of a sandwich to devour. You can have with prosciutto or without but I haven't heard of them letting you choose the cheese. They do shave it off and prepare it for you fresh though, so I'm sure if you asked nicely, they would throw in whatever you wanted.

Centre Deli in Thornhill. Lots of cheese and it comes with fries.

I've always been a fan of Flo's Diner and their grilled cheese. Nothing fancy or inventive - just delicious.

Moxie's has on their lunch menu:

                    lobster & brie grilled cheese

with a side spring mix salad

has anyone tried the $5 grilled cheese sandwich (more like a sub) at Cheese Emporium at the corner of mt. pleasant/eglinton. You pick your meat then you pick your cheese - he presses it in a panini machine on a sub-type of bun. OMG. Cheap and Cheerful. (plus fresh).

They do some nice sandwiches to order at Chabichou. I think the breads come from Jules on Mt. Pleasant, and they carry a wide selection of cheeses.

I had a pretty tasty grilled cheese sandwich from the Monforte Dairy booth at the Scadding Court Community Centre at Bathurst and Dundas. It was $5, had two types of cheese, pears and herbs. The bread is made in the community centre and was delish.
