I just cooked an egg in the MW and made egg salad. Couldn't tell the difference between it and hardboiled.

A little while ago I got a real craving for egg salad but am feeling really lazy. I cracked an egg into a small (3" diameter?) glass bowl. I used a knife to break up the yolk a bit without mixing it into the white. I MWd 30 seconds, stirred the yolk a little more, and MWd 2x more til I could see the yolk was done. So maybe a minute total. To speed it cooling down I dumped it onto a little plate. I sliced in thin strips and then went back and sliced across so I effectively had diced egg. Made egg salad with that and chilled it a few. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between this and egg salad made from HB eggs. I'll be doing this again.

    Hi,

I've done that too. Great way to do an egg or two for egg salad or creamed eggs or on top of a spinach salad or . . .

    Thanks for the reminder!

My husband cooks eggs in the microwave all the time. He prefers hard cooked so he takes a small bowl, puts olive oil in it, cracks 2 eggs, breaks the yolks, adds pepper, covers them with a paper towel and then a small plate. He sets the micro for 85 sec. then cooks them for 30 sec, rest 30. Again for 15 seconds, rest 30. then again letting the timer run out.

These eggs are very good, not rubbery.

p.s. we live at high altitude so this cooking time would probably be less at normal altitude.

We live at about 6200+' but had never considered that the MW would "know" that but, of course, the lower boiling temp for water and other things would be in effect in the MW also.

Except for HB eggs I like all the rest super runny so I won't try his recipe :)
