rhubarb at farmers market?

Anyone seen rhubarb at a farmers market? I've been looking for it at Berkeley but have not seen any.

I know they probably have it at Berkeley Bowl or Monterey Market, but would rather buy direct.

I got some decent Oregon rhubarb at Monterey Market.

I'm pretty sure I've bought it from Happy Quail Farm at the Ferry Plaza before. It was probably ridiculously expensive, as is most produce there, but if you want local, Happy Quail has greenhouses and therefore has a lot of stuff earlier than other local farms.

They had it at the Sunnyvale farmers market last week.

You can get it at Safeway. Since it doesn't grow around here, even at a farmer's market, it will be trucked in.

It does grow around here, just not yet. I found it local at farmer's markets last spring, but not until around late May or June.

Rhubarb grows in the Bay Area. I could pick it in my back yard if I thought ahead and weren't so lazy.

I find Safeway a good place to get unscented dryer sheets.

Did not mistake rhubarb for chard as bought chard and decided to come back for the rhubarb today! I'd call Mollie Stone's on California St. as they kept it stocked in the Spring. Ask to have them hold enough for your recipe--if you give them a credit card number and a time you'll pick it up, they may hold it for you. Also Cal-Mart in Laurel Village a bit further out on California may have it.

There was some at the Berkeley Natural today, but it was from WA.

I know that the harvest was delayed because of the cold weather. Greenleaf did not have any source for it as 2 weeks ago. We usually start to see good supplies late march but not this year.

I saw it at Whole Foods on California Street, Wednesday and I believe Mollie Stone's also on California (just past Fillmore) also has it. Sorry, I didn't notice where it was from.
