Excellent lunch in Arcadia
My partner and I had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant in Arcadia yesterday. We ordered and shared the Chicken Noodle Soup, Crab quiche with side of fruit, Club Wrap with side of fruit and the English Sticky Toffee Pudding. Each item was freshly made in the kitchen from fresh ingredients and presented in a charming manner. The staff was professional. If you fear it's a "Ladies only" spot please reconsider, my partner found it filling and definately worth another visit. What a gem of an unusual place. I wish is was closer to Venice where we live......by the way, the scones looked yummy.

We ate breakfast at Wheeler's Cafe in Arcadia. Great food, friendly people. This place looks like small town diner from the 1920's, which it is. The food was quick and perfect. Omelets, egg sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, grits, etc. Folks say the fried chicken is great but we didn't try it. However, we went back later for piece of their chocolate peanut butter pie, and it was AMAZING! We tried to get out of town, but actually turned around and went back for a second piece.

On Friday my partner and I again had lunch in Acadia at Mary Margarets. The lunch was very similar to the last time......we were very pleased with our selections.......Three Bean Soup, Club Wrap, Crab Quiche and the wonderful Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Based on dharma's post I popped into Wheeler's to buy pie to take home.....What an awful mistake!!!!!! Two pieces of Coconut Cream Pie so horrible i was fearful of illness. The meringue was flat and sticky hard with a layer of uncooked egg white and sugar (undissolved)touching the bright yellow (food coloring) packaged pudding. The crust was premade and vile. I'll never stop there again!!!!-

Wheeler's Cafe is a real throw back. Very good daily specials and great desserts, usually, sorry to hear that PP got a bad piece of pie, maybe it sat in a hot car for too long.?
The Fried Chix is truly exceptional, try the pan fried Gizzards, if available, homemade biscuits, corn bread, etc. etc. Truly a taste of "old Florida". without any pretentiousness.
