Where to eat if Osteria Morini is packed?

We were going to go to Torrisi until I saw that they are closed for a private event. I've wanted to try Osteria Morini but it was already too late to get a reservation. We are going to try to head there at prime time (because we have no other choice) so if the wait is horrendous, where else should we try?

I'd normally just go to Cafe Habana or Cafe Gitane but I'd like to try something new.

Any suggestions? We don't mind waiting, but I also don't want to be sitting down to eat at 10 PM.

Thanks!

Lucky you ... that Osteria Morini was packed. It didn't appeal to us.
    Try Peasant.

If it's a Friday night, go next door to Ed's Lobster Bar and get the lobster over linguine special.

Peasant, Caffe Falai, and Rubirosa are nearby if you want Italian. Balaboosta is fairly new. Also you're not too far from the restaurants near Bowery & Houston like Pulino's, Peels, Hecho en Dumbo, Five Points.

      Good luck!
