Rome- Il Barzo Tre Mare?

  • 9

Hi Folks,

A friend in Toronto strongly urges us to go for seafood to Il Barzo Tre Mare (not sure I have the spelling correct).

Anyone know of this place? She doesn't recall where it is except likely near Campo di Fiori?

Our entire three weeks of eating our way through Rome, Amalfi and Umbria in June is laid out thanks to Chow posters, especially Jen K!

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Charles

  1. I think it's called Il Bar sotto il Mare. It seems to have three locations, none near Campo dei Fiori: on Via Tunisi near the Vatican, on Via Alessandria in the Nomentana area and on Via Ostavia pretty far north of the Vatican.

No idea how good it is; maybe someone who knows it/them will have an opinion.

I have been to bar sotto il mare at the via tunisi location a couple of times, enjoying some stuff, but then decided it is not good enough. If you are in the area and want fish, especially at lunch time, it can be done, it is not bad, it is just not outstanding. A better place is pesciolino on the same street.

since the OP probably doesnt want to head out to Prati for seafood, is there someplace closer to the center that is recommendable?

Tuna and Tempio di Iside do great seafood. I cant add links:(

Thanks! I dont know why - sometimes when you try to add, if you are at the bottom of the page you can not click the pulldowns. and you have to scroll down a bit so there is room for the pulldown menu to appear, then fill in the blank again (if that makes any sense) The only way to add is by selecting from the pull down.

Why not, prati is not like the end of the world, it is just a bus or metro ride away from most places.
I also like la gensola in trastevere, but i guess that is far, too. Tuna is great, though with a higher price tag. San lorenzo is the most central maybe.

agreed. dont know what OP's priority is - type of food, eating at a restaurant a friend recommends, location or a combination of the above. We'll see when he comes back.

            adding link

Vinoroma, Pesciolino looks really nice and also, from the standpoint of a visitor to Rome, Pesciolino like it could be a nice choice after a visit to the Vatican Museums - do they serve lunch? Im not finding info about opening times etc.

Thanks folks...I really was just trying to see if Il Bar Sotto Mare was on anyone's radar...we will be having plenty of seafood in Amalfi so we'll see where we end up in Rome...based on Jen K, Vinoroma and Katieparlas' previous posts, I have restaurants noted for the areas we will likely explore for the three days we are there and hope we'll get to at least one a day...

On another note, anyone tried Ristorante al Palazzaccio near Spoleto?

              Thanks and Chow!
