Memphis for a day (lunch and dinner)

I'm flying into Memphis this Saturday for a gig, and I'll have time for lunch somewhere between 2-3pm and drinks/dinner after the gig (around 8-9pm?).

I've never been to Memphis before, so I'm looking for something that's tasty and local, but I don't really have any strong requirements.

I'd prefer lunch to be something light, but dinner can be no-holds-barred.

Thanks in advance for wading through this mess of a post and offering your suggestions!

    Can I get away with jeans and a button-down shirt at Iris, or is it fancier?

      Definitely! Ive worn t shirts lol. Ask for jeff when you make reservations (which you'll want to do pretty far in advance) and tell chef kelly ,evan sent you when he comes around!

      If you are looking for a bar then Brookhaven Pub is close. I forgot to add the Half Shell as nearby place where you can get a light lunch.

        Las Tortugas for lunch, Restaurant Iris for Dinner. Best options in Memphis. Period

            The gig is at the Memphis Botanical Gardens, and we're staying at the DoubleTree on Sanderlin.

              Actually, Interim, which is across the street from your hotel is very good for dinner and has a lively Bar as well. Las Tortugas is not too far from you, and is exceptional for lunch. You can eat light there.

                I can't argue with Las Tortugas and Iris if you don't mind driving a little bit. If you want to stay close then Interim is a great choice. As mentioned by Michael H, you can walk across the street.

                Bogie's Deli is a good choice nearby for a light lunch.

                Jim's Place right down the street also has good dinner and a lively restaurant bar scene at night.

                Andrew Michael is also very close.

                Napa Cafe is less than 100 yards from the hotel.
