Parker House Rolls

pinehurst Apr 7, 2011 03:15 PM

Anyone know where I can buy Parker House (type) rolls to compliment Easter dinner?

Bobby Flay made them on tv today, and I got nostalgic, but there's no way I have time to bake them.

Thank you all!

Don't know where you are, but I would check The Good Loaf in Milford. They are not usually carried there, but I don't know if they can be specially ordered. Great Harvest Bread (Nashua) will be open the week before Easter, so that's another possibility. Lull Farm (Milford and Brookline) has a bakery, so they may carry them, I know they have dinner rolls there.

I am in Methuen, so those aren't totally out of reach for me. Could be a fun tasting tour! Thank you!

The Parker House in Boston sells them by the dozen, or at least they did a couple of years ago.

Sister Schubert's rolls are a darn good substitute:

According to this, I can buy a tray at Walmart in Salem NH?!?!?!? Wow. Okay, that's part of the carb safari, too.

btw, I just finished preparing a loaf of bread to bake and realized maybe it would be possible for you to bake them...you really could prep the dough 3-4 days in advance, put it in the fridge, Prepare as rolls the day before, keep in fridge, then bake on Easter. I understand that even that can be a bit daunting depending how busy you'll be (I'm always crazy busy prepping for holidays) but using a mixer to make the dough can be pretty quick and easy.

They have them at Crosby Bakery at 51 East Pearl St in Nashua if that is not too far for you. Their rolls are small but they have that dense homemade character - I think they'd be perfect.
