Need Daytona Beach Recs

Foodiebear11 Apr 7, 2011 03:03 PM

Hello fellow foodies!

Will be heading to Daytona Beach in May and need restaurant recommendations (seafood, Asian, Caribbean, etc.). As we are celebrating something special we are also looking for a decent steakhouse. I know DB is not gourmet capital...

Thanks a lot for your help!

North Turn on A1A in Ponce Inlet is very good. I had my graduation party there. Joe's Crab Shack a little north of North Turn is also pretty good and its on a pier. The Cracked Egg is also good (as mentioned below). The Oyster Pub's oysters are always fresh, and they have a pool room. The Ocean Deck and Mai Tai's food is ok, but their drinks are better. Siam Spice on Beach street is good, and there is a little hole in the wall place across the street that I can't remember the name of.

its Crabby Joes on the pier in Daytona Beach Shores, not Joe's Crab Shack. please don't confuse the two.
Boondocks on Penninsula Dr. in Wilbur by the sea has good seafood.
the Brickyard is the BEST place for burgers & wings.
steaks are a tough call in Daytona. IMHO the best steaks are on MY backyard grill.
for hot dogs, Stinky Dogs on Bay st.
pizza, Luigis on US1 in Holly Hill for Italian style. Stavros on Beach st. for Greek style.

Zen Bistro is great Thai place. I didn't care too much for Leahn's. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was lackluster and definitely not authentic.

Second Cracked Egg. Casual but tasty little diner.

Mai Tai is a great place to get drinks, especially if you sit outside. Ocean Deck is okay, but I personally prefer Oyster Pub and their grilled oysters, drooool

      Hope this helped!

Asian - Leannhs on Nova Rd just south of Beville - great Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese
Steakhouse - Stonewood on Dunlawton just west of Nova
Seafood - most everything is fried everywhere you go in the Daytona area but there are some good shrimp and downeast dishes at the Boston Fish House in New Smyrna Beach and for an old fashioned waterfront seafood shack there's JB's in New Smyrna Beach.
A good breakfast/lunch joint can be found in the Cracked Egg in Daytona Beach Shores. (just don't be surprised if you're asked to join in the chicken dance!)

Thanks Wakeley Bridge! Will check them out!
What about Ocean Deck and Mai Tai Bar?

Been years since I was at either of them so I can't really comment on them. You might want to do a search for "Daytona" and see what other threads there are.

Ocean deck is always descent,,not great but descent! Daytona has quite a few good pizza and burger joints,,I like the brickyard for burgers. For steak there is a good place about a mile west of the track called Gene's. Been there for years!!
