Sweet Tooth in the FQ

Any recommendations on where I can get some yummy desserts in the FQ (outside of a restaurant)? I love gelato, pastries, and ESPECIALLY chocolate!

Hopefully, a new place will be opening on St. Louis where Kupcake Factory was, but not until May.

My husband actually makes the gelato for La Divina (they make it on Magazine St. and deliver it to the FQ location), so I'm honor bound to second that.

La Divina gelateria has a French Quarter outpost on St. Peter St. behind the Cathedral. Try the peppery chocolate Azteca flavor.

I can't think of any truly great pastries, but Croissant d'Or probably has the best in the quarter - 617 Ursulines St.

Chocolate - nothing is coming to mind. I don't think there are any chocolate shops in the quarter.

For super tasty popsicles in creative, delicious flavors, go to Meltdown Popsicles at 508 Dumaine. I especially love the salted caramel and anything with pineapple, but everything is good.

Southern Candy makers at Conti and Decatur has lots of chocolate goodies. And ice cream too!

Oh yes how could I forget! I get their candy all the time - probably too often. The ice cream is just Blue Bell though, nothing too outstanding.

A couple of high end chocolatiers have tried to make a go of it on Royal St., but I can't recall if there's one presently.

Laura's Candies on Chartres has fabulous truffles and 'mississippi mud'.
