Lotus of Siam

I'm trying to appease a variety of different budgets on an upcoming trip to Vegas and the board suggests that this place is great bang for your buck. However, most of the posts on this place are a bit dated and I want to make sure that it's food has not gone downhill since then.

Any recent comments?

As well - any other ideas for cheap'ish dinners? I'm probably going to book Otto for one of the nights.

Thanks,

-----

The food at Lotus is indeed outstanding, but you should be aware that the location is anything but...it's in what has to be one of the ugliest strip malls in the US....but if you like good Thai and are in it for the food, then it's a winner...

    Also consider...Pasta Shop...Firefly...Grape Street Cafe

Does Lotus take reservations? Cannot find info on site, have not been able to phone during open hours.

Yes, LOS takes reservations, and often they are essential. But LOS doesn't have voicemail or an answering machine. Normally, the front desk will pick when called during business hours. Sometimes, when they are swamped, they don't. Maybe the best time to call an hour within opening at lunch or dinner or toward the end of lunch service. If you call early in the morning, no one will answer.

I was there a month ago and it was as good as ever....been going for 6-7 years. Go without hesitation.

I understood what he meant - I thought there were frequent posts on Lotus

Dated? Really? I was there 4 weeks ago and it has NOT gone downhill. In addition to the excellent and reasonably priced a la acarte choices they also do a $10 buffet that is excellent - just not as excellent as a la carte.

I think the poster was referring to the posts they found as being dated. Not that the restaurant was dated.

There has been a few posts these past few weeks on LOS.
