Amsterdam Ice Cream, Etc.

Hello - Getting ready for a trip to Amsterdam in a couple months and am looking for good ice cream places, particularly places with black licorice ice cream, my favorite and impossible to find at home. Also, if you were a mom with a kid and on a tight budget, where would you go for an early dinner (6 p.m. or so)? Most of the sandwich places seem to close by 5 p.m. We'll mostly be in Museumplein , Jordaan and around Artis Zoo. My spouse will be working most nights and although we'll have an apartment, I don't want to cook every night of my vacation! Thank you.

Appreciate the suggestions - I an not a pancake fan, but my son is, so maybe we'll go once. Ice cream places sound good, I'll Google them!

Dinner with a kid near Artis = the burgermeester (best organic hamburger in town).
www.burgermeester.eu . Best icecreams: Pisa Icecream, scheldeplein (near Rai), IJScuypje 1e van der Helststraat (next to the Albert Cuyp market) or van der Linden icecream Nieuwendijk 183 (near Dam).

Why not pancakes? Dutch style of course. I'm just a tourist in Amsterdam, and am going to be there in a month for my honeymoon, but we've gotten really cheap, filling meals at various pancake places. Pancake Bakery is a good one.
