Family Birthday Party Menu
My son turns 1 this month and my husband and I are having his family over for a party. We will be having between 30 and 50 guests (haven't got the RSVP's all back yet). I am 36 weeks pregnant too and could go at any time, so something easy (but I don't want to sacrifice quality, so please don't tell me to buy a bunch of premade things at the grocery store, it's just not my style). I have been thinking about this for a couple of months now and can't come up with ANYTHING; prego-brain is sucking me dry! Something that can be self-served/buffet style is ideal. He is having a monkey theme, but the food doesn't have to coordinate and the party starts at 1. (but I like to think of it as earlier because so many of our guests will have to leave at around 11:30 to get here)
Thank you so much for your help!!
I attended an awesome buffet party a few months ago, where they had a wonderful antipasto platter, a cheese plate, several different salad bowls, and then 4 different lasagnas--one with fish, one with beef and tomato, another veggie, and a white one. I thought that was a great idea and all stuff that can be made ahead and made more or less fancy/elegant.
You could also do a more traditional buffet with a beef tenderloin and a ham with different side dishes for both.
