Superb Greek or NORTHERN Italian in Queens for special B'day

I know that there are innumerable posts on such, however, any current suggestions for a superb Greek or Northern Italian in Queens for my Moms 91st B'day?

She loves greek meze, and more the village style food, the vegetarian fair and fish then the grilled meat, but our last meal at the formerly wonderful Agnanti was ruined when they served us quite obviously rancid fish, so that is off the list at least for now. So we are major Greek lovers without a home.

An alternative is real Northern Italian food, but she does not care for pretentious over priced places.

So if you have a favorite delicious treat somewhere that puts the emphasis on the food and not the glitz please share. Thanks!

P.S. Someone recently recommended Loukoumi on Ditmars for Greek. It's been open a couple of years now but doesn't get much action on this baord.

new Greek spot AGORA in Forest Hills on Austin in old Pui Bella spot getting some good buzz--but since so new not sure if I'd chance it, reports of inconsistency--

I wouldn't think of it as special occasion but it's a good area place--

Also, Avli in Bayside is good, but not the nicest atmosphere and service is sorely lacking professionalism---but food can be good--good pasticchio--

For Italian, atmosphere and food wise, your mom might be very happy at Alberto in Forest Hills on Metropolitan ave..their food is good--and service good and place is nice for a party
