Best Store Bought Pate

Elyssa Apr 6, 2011 08:37 AM

I am throwing a dinner party in a few weeks where I would love to do a pate platter with pickles, mustard etc.

I know Red Apron has amazing pate, but I'm looking for a back up plan because I'm not sure if I'll have time before the party to get to the farmers market (away for the next few weekends).

Anyone have any delicious (or unique....perhaps rabbit pate or rillettes) store-bought pates recently. Some friends suggested Cork and Fork and Cork on 14th St. Any other thoughts?

If you can get to Del Ray, I just had some liver mousse from Cheesetique that was excellent, pretty presentation. I can't remember if it was called liver mousse or pate mousse, or something along those lines. It was about $12 per pound.

Unfortunately outside of DC is probably not going to happen. If at all I would love to find something walking distance to Dupont.

Cork sells a homemade chicken liver pate that is sold in a small mason jar that is delicious! I think it is about $11. They also sell other types of pate by the slice.

Depending on when your dinner is and when it opens, Seasonal Pantry may end up being a good source: http://www.seasonalpantry.com/
