fresh wasabi leaves
A friend just gave me a bag of fresh wasabi leaves. They are beautiful and look like miniature arugula leaves. I've never even seen these before and don't know what to do with them. What would you do with them if you had them? I have a 4 ounce bag.
I know Emeril Lagasse markets a salad blend that includes wasabi leaves and this link is a FN recipe with fresh grilled tuna that utilizes the leaves very nicely.
The only time I've seen wasabi leaves in NJ is in the salad blend. Lucky you!
I'd be trying to root them. I need to look up and see if you can buy roots and grow it yourself.
Thinking about it, maybe they are for salad? check and see how hot they are. I think the root is the part used for wasabi horseradish..... Or they could be cooked and added, or added raw to mashed potatoes, pasta, roast beef gravy, for flavor?
