Looking for Rittenhouse 100 - again

katzzz Apr 6, 2011 06:01 AM

After spending most of 2010 without seeing Rittenhouse 100 rye for sale anywhere, it finally reappeared a few months ago. I bought two bottles. My mistake. I should have loaded up. Because after seeing it in numerous liquor stores at that time, I can no longer find it anywhere. What gives? Has it become a seasonal item?

Call Martignetti's. I saw it there last week. I believe a little sign on the shelf said they have the 25 year old version if you have $179.99.

      Report back?

Picked some up at Martignetti's two weeks ago - they seemed to have a lot.

I spoke to someone there - he said they're getting a pretty steady supply.

I was in Martignetti's about three weeks ago and they were totally out. I didn't ask if they were expecting more, but I'll have to check back. thanks!

This may or may not be convenient to you but in Wakefield, Caporale's Liquors on Broadway has had it consistently for several months. Two rows on the shelf last week at $19.95.

Call Wine and Cheese Cask in Cambridge. They normally have it.

I'm seeing Rittenhouse 100 everywhere at retail and in my favorite bars. What I'm not finding reliably at retail (though quite a few bars still seem to have it) is my other favorite modestly-priced American straight rye, Sazerac 6 Year Old.

Bought some at Blanchard's in JP this weekend. They had plenty. Marked as $18.99 but rung up as $19.99 so make sure you watch the scan and correct them on it.
