Ribs USA-Burbank? Anyone?
Hey board-
I live near Burbank and am told that Ribs USA has some of the best? Can anybody share their experiences? First I was told to try Dr. Hogly Wogley's and wasn't impressed the slightest?
Input on Ribs USA on Olive would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mikey

Ribs USA has the best wings in the valley, IMHO. You'll find plenty of threads on this site crowning Ye Old Rustic Inn's wings as the best in LA, and I think Ribs USA's are pretty close. Spicy fries are also a treat, and their hot links and spicy chicken (D's in the House) are also pretty good. Ribs are just ok, and the other sides are weak. But if wings are your thing, this place is pretty great.

Don't waste your time with RIBS USA - pretty bland.
Kansas City BBQ Company is a better option and thats not far from RIBS USA.

re: JackonCrack
I'm pro-Kansas City BBQ Company myselves and have been for some time. Be sure to try the baked beans (with bits of their sensational smoky brisket cooked in) and sweet potato fries. I'm also a fan of their beef ribs and sliced pork sandwich. Purty hard to beat. Oh, and be sure to ask for the "spicy" sauce, it kicks butt.

I know this may not directly answer the question, but the wings are pretty good at Ribs USA.

Dr. Hogly Wogley's ( Beef ribs((my preference))) is far superior to Ribs USA. I could not believe that Ribs USA made the list for anything else at that. I do indulge in pork- ribs, pulled and sandwiches. I can reasonably understand why some of these places get ratings it is basically because they are located near high traffic business areas. I'll tell you places that are worth the drive if you want real BBQ.
Let me know

I like Ribs USA. They have barrels of peanuts to eat and sawdust and peanut shells on the floor and theres always the sport du jour on the t.v's. I haven't been there in awhile, but I'm never disapointed. The place on Ventura is called Mr. Cecils and just down the street from there is The Boneyard. I agree with you and don't think Hogly Wogly's is that great.
Have fun! -
I've only been to Ribs USA twice (I'll try anything twice). I thought it was overpriced and bland. Some people seem to like it though. The other BBQ options in the area are the Swinging Door at Vineland and Vanowen (my current favorite), the Bear Pit up by the 118, and that BBQ place on Ventura Bl a half block east of Woodman.
I don't know what you look for in BBQ, but Hogly's brisket is great, Swinging Door has great baby back ribs with a lot of smokey flavor, Bear Pit is more of a Missouri sweet BBQ sauce sort of place, and the place on Ventura is more of a Southern Style BBQ with tangy sauce and great ribs (but a bit pricey).
Hope this helps

re: Marvz
I eat at Ribs USA a lot (what can I say, it's often the closest dining destination up with which non-Chowhounds will put), and I can tell you that the food is a lot better if you do one of three things:
1. Ask for Cajun sauce. It's better.
2. Ask for extra pickles (this works great if you are on a low-carb diet).
3. Ask for vinegar and jalapenos. Shake the chiles in the vinegar container, then use as pepper sprinkle.-

Wow! That sounds like a finely tuned modification! I bet it works.
See ya
