Dinner, Breakfast suggestions around Holiday Inn Bloor-Yorkville?

My wife will be staying at the Holiday Inn Bloor Yorkville in Toronto for work - looking for suggestions for one nice, chow-worthy, vegetarian friendly dinner within walking distance and any great early morning bakeries / coffee spots around the hotel. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Herb has provided a good summary of nearby spots, especially casual veggie options. If your wife wanted something a bit more upscale for dinner, she could try Splendido, Harbord Room or 93 Harbord - all on Harbord. In addition to L'Espresso, there is also Aroma on Bloor (opens around 7:30, I think). I can't think of any great bakeries right in Yorkville but if your wife is happy to walk for 20 minutes or hop in a 5 minute cab ride, there's Woodlot Bakery near Bathurst and College (maybe combine with Manic for coffee but I think Woodlot serves coffee too - opens at 7:30 during the week) or Petite Thuet, All the Best and Bar Centrale in the Yonge/Summerhill area (all open around 8 during the week).

The hotel is right across from the University of Toronto (280 Bloor W) , so there's several student-type veggie places nearby.

Right across the street is L'Espresso Bar Mercurio. Opens 7 am. Italian not veggie tho there's lots on the menu that is.

Fresh by Juice for Life is probably the closest for vegetarian

and there's a veggie takeout spot called Sunny's Cafe in the back of Noah's health food store next door.

Further west is One Love, a vegan Caribbean cafe.

Heading east, you have Mela for Italian vegetarian (7 Yorkville @ Yonge) and Camros for Persian-style vegetarian cafeteria-style.

Not many indie coffee spots in the area other than 7 West Cafe (open 24/7). Starbucks on every corner.
