Hmong Village...Favorite vendor

Mine is Her Kitchen. I love their Pho, even more then the good Vietnamese joints in town like Pho Tau Bay, Quang, etc..They make a great Thai Papaya salad too. it's hard for me to try other spots because Her's is so good. Am I missing out?

I really like the bakery in the corner that makes croissants as big as a couch cushion. I also got an awesome papaya salad at one of the vendors not on the main wall, I think down near the bakery.

Always chuckle at Acapulco Gold or whatever the ice cream place is. Isn't that slang for cocaine too?

Went yesterday and had my favorite papaya salad there at Mai's deli, not to be confused with Mai's Kitchen. They had an award in front that they had won the Hmong village papaya salad competition. I also had the papaya salad at kitchenette which won second place but wasn't impressed...Their version was oversauced with Tamarind sauce which made it a soggy mess. Mai's is crunchy with a great sweet, spicy, sour flavor which makes a great papaya salad.

I think you might have had Kad's deli's papaya salad as they are off the main strip...as was Mai's Deli which was my favorite. I will have to try Kad's next time.
