Dayton, OH, need rec's for Steakhouse, Seafood, Sushi/Asian or your favorite, any cuisine
Hi, my friend is going to be in Dayton for one night, not sure where he's staying yet, but I have a car and we can go anywhere. Cost is not an issue, just let me know what, in your expert opinions, are your favorite places, maybe a special occasion place to you. Steaks and seafood are high on the list, be we like everything. What is your opinion of the Pine Club? What would it be like to get in on a Wednesday evening? Thanks for your help.

My favorite places are Meadowlark (contemporary American, local, seasonal, etc.); Rue Dumaine (local and seasonal with a Cajun twist); the Winds in Yellow Springs (see Meadowlark, same type of food). Jay's Seafood has been up and down, our last visit was wonderful but don't go on Monday night when Chef Chris Cavender is off. The Pine Club is still good but not exceptional (I can make steak as good at home for significantly cheaper).

re: Niki in Dayton
I agree with Niki--but with a twist. Rue Dumaine is my number one favorite; I like Meadowlark better for lunch than dinner; the Winds has been up and down over the past year; Jay's is OK; and the Pine Club is living off its reputation rather than its quality/substance.

Pine Club is a good place to go for a steak. It's like stepping back in time to the 60's (I don't think it's ever been remodelled). You will need cash as they don't take credit cards. You shouldn't have any problem on a Wednesday night. Try the stewed tomatos for a local favorite side dish.
