Good eats around Logan
Flying in to Boston for the first time with a 4 year old in tow. Any recommendations for dives or casual places near the airport since we'll be getting in around dinner and then driving down to Hyannis?
We're up for anything but being from Texas we never get good Italian so that would be great. I want to hit Rino's Place during the week but I don't think we'll be up for a long wait right after a 5 hour flight and we can't do reservations in case the plane is delayed.

I don't think I'd send a guy from TX to a BBQ (though I'm anxious to try Blackstrap myself). East Boston has a strong Italian and Latino population...but you have plenty of Latino at home.
My choices for you would be Santarpio's Pizza which I like and you'll get a glimpse of old time Boston or some of the Italian places mentioned.
If you and your son are adventurous, there is a very good Peruvian place nearby..Rincon Limeno

I spent a lot of time at Jeveli's when I lived in Eastie - not as good as Rino's, but they do have Keno and beer. Anyway, everyone on Chowhound loves East Boston - just poke around a bit and you'll find something great!

There's always the love-it-or-hate-it Santarpios for pizza and grilled sausage and lamb... (I love it, fwiw)

If you like bbq I would recommend Blackstrap bbq, just a little north of the airport in winthrop, it might not be as good as at home, but it is pretty good for around here. You can also grab a lobster roll at Belle isle, but they don't really have any seats, so you might have to eat in the car if it isn't nice out.
