Sushi: 15 East, Soto, Niko?
I'd like some advice concerning a japanese restaurant where I could have sushi. I'll be in NYC in a couple of weeks and I'm considering going to 15 East, although Soto and Niko seemed interesting after reading about them. I prefer nigiri sushi, particularly tuna (o-toro and chu-toro) and would rather have an omakase sushi. Soto seems to be big in uni dishes, but how about other types?
Masa is out of question...
I saw at opentable that the sushi bar at 15 East can't be reserved by them, so I would have to call them. Is this correct?
Any other recommendations will be appreciated.

Soto is wonderful -- probably one of my favorites in NYC if I am not footing the bill -- but it is not really a restaurant I would go to for nigiri. The rice is just ok, there.
I have not been to Niko, but 15 East can be very good. Kanoyama is also a good choice. I believe, but am not certain, that for omakase at the sushi bar at both 15 East and Kanoyama, you must reserve by telephone.

re: Ffromsaopaulo
i just went to 15 East a few days ago. I would definitely recommend it for nigiri (and everything else)--their rice is incredible! we sat at the bar, my friend was able to get seats by showing up early. you might want to give that a try :)
if you can't go there, i'm also a fan of Ushiwakamaru...even though 15 East blew my mind, this place is also great. well done rice and fresh fish--and their chefs are really friendly. call to reserve a seat at the bar.
