I tried Maharaja last weekend and the place is great. The food and service was top-notch and the the views are fantastic. Very pleased and will definitely go back again.

re: Gabatta
Tried Vindaloo, Goan fish, Biryani and some chicken appetizers (cant recollect the name).
I particularly enjoyed the appetizers and the Biryani. I think the food is very comparative to Tamarind or Kashmir but presented well. The location and the views surely enhance the overall dining experience. You dont feel crowded. We were a party of 4 and all of us left very satisfied with the experience. Hope that helps.

I tried Maharaja the first week that they opened. I thought their lunch buffet was more extensive than Cafe India on Brattle Street. The staff was very nice and attentive and the renovated space is lovely. I'm not the best at discerning true Indian food as I am still learning my way around the cuisine. However, I would definitely encourage you to try Maharaja.

I recently decided to check out the place and was very disappointed by both the food and the service. The stuff seem very unorganized but I guess new place usually at the beginning but then again if you are opening up a place in Harvard Sq, shouldn't you have your act together?
Anyways I can look past the service if the food was decent. The Ck Korma was kindda blend (i think too much cream), the garlic naan was ok. And Also I think they still don't have any alcoholic beverages.
I hear that the owners are from New Hampshire. Maybe this quality is ok in NH but I don't know if this will cut it here in greater boston, where there are 100s of decent Indian places to choose from...›1 Reply-
re: Rmoon
I'd have to disagree that Boston has 100s of decent Indian places. I'd say the number is in the 1s. If Maharaja is indeed worse than your typical Boston Indian restaurant, it would have to be pretty bad. As I just said on the white-tablecloth Indian restaurant thread, the menu at Maharaja is not too encouraging. A lot of rather standard dishes, unlike Tamarind Bay across the street.
