Weeknight Dinner Options near Canon Theatre

  • 9

As the title says, I'm looking for somewhere to go for dinner near the Canon theatre tomorrow. We're not too picky and price doesn't really matter. The only criteria are that it is a proper sit-down restaurant with liquor license and they have to have at least one lacto-vegetarian option. The only cuisine I'd say we would like to steer clear from is Indian, but that's only because we just had it the other night. :) Preferably within a 10 minute walk from the theatre. Thanks!

Oh, no need to mention the Senator or Terroni (or whatever the one on Victoria is called) as we've been to both before - it would be nice to try something different! That area seems like a bit of a ghost town for decent food, so I'm hoping that one of you knows of a gem I haven't stumbled across yet!

  1. All within a 10 mins walk -

Adega on Elm - Portuguese inspired dining
Queen and Beaver on Elm - Gasto pub
George on Queen East - French inspired fine dining

I like George, and it would be my first choice for dinner if I was going to a show at the Canon. While I'd describe George as a restaurant that offers inspired fine dining that features locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, I wouldn't consider it to be French inspired fine dining. ;-)
But, regardless of how I would label George, it's a good choice for a luxe dinner near the Canon.

The online menu is likely a little out of date, but it gives an idea of what is served at George:

Fair for sure. I think of George as French inspired b/c my fav dishes there tend to lean in that direction.

;-) Not trying to be a PITA, just not what I would consider to be French. ;-)

    2. Harlem might be interesting and I know they offer vegetarian dishes.

      1. Ok, that is very odd. My post is missing. :S

I apologize if this ends up being a duplicate.

You may want to consider Jump or O&B (Front & Yonge) - both are accomodating with menus

There is also Mercatto in the Eaton Centre (the old City Grill space). Someone had suggested The Gabardine (that post is also missing) - having been there for lunch twice now, I would take a pass

        1. Looking for other suggestions near the Canon theatre.
I have only about 1 1/2 hrs so would prefer non-fine dining.
          Thanks

You can still dine well in that amount of time at Rodney's By Bay.
