4 Days in Gig Harbor
Four guys are coming from Texas on a golf trip. We are staying in Gig Harbor because of its location for golf, not food. We are looking for good locally owned places that are moderately priced. We do have some limitations on cuisine. Sushi, vegetarian, anything Asian, Indian, and Mexican are out. Would like to limit the drive for dinner to no more than 30 minutes from Gig Harbor. Here is what I'm currently thinking and would welcome your comments /suggestions. Southern Kitchen for breakfast (would like to find something closer, but from reading this board seems unlikely). Katie Downs, The Hub, Marzanos and Pacific Grill (for one nicer seafood dinner). One day we will make the trip to play at Sahalee near Redmond and thought after golf on that day we would go to The Pomegranate Bistro before driving back to Gig Harbor.

Hi
I know alot about Gig Harbor Restaurants and there are some great ones - Tides Tavern was suggested by someone and they also serve breakfast. Brix 25 is a great locally owned restaurant as well for a nice dinner...entrees are anywhere from $15-$30 and delicious. New in Gig Harbor is tiny JW. Great food! But tiny so call ahead. I also like Fondi Neopolitan Pizza at the Gig Harbor Uptown Shopping. Are you staying in Gig Harbor? the Inn at Gig Harbor has a great restaurant called the Heritage. There are a lot more. the best Gig Harbor website is www.gigharborguide.com you can see a full list there with phone numbers and websites. Have fun!-----

re: PappyAustin
Here is the report. Our 4 dinners were at Asado in Tacoma, Pomegranate Bistro in Redmond, JW in Gig Harbor, and Katie Downs in Tacoma. No complaints with any of them. I was particularly impressed with Pomegranate and especially JW. Based on how crowded they were I can't call them undiscovered, but suspect most of their guests are from the local area. Both are worth a 30 minute drive in my opinion.

Pappy, You have done your homework well grasshopper. You will need reservations at Marzanos even during weekdays. I would add at least one stop at the Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor for fish & chips and beer. The Tides is a Gig Harbor institution and an experience not to be missed. The Hub is okay, but certainly not a destination restaurant. As an alternative, I would suggest Fondi's pizza in Gig Harbor. At the Southern Kitchen you can't go wrong with the Big Catfish Breakfast. (Use caution on their coffee as it is strong enough to change your entire body chemistry.) Bring plenty of GoreTex and enjoy the Pacific Northwest golf experience!
