Near Daly City BART? El Camino Real?
I will be in and out of Daly City BART station frequently for the next couple months, and then taking public transit down El Camino Real as far as San Bruno, and would appreciate suggestions. Most of the time I'll be in a hurry, looking for lunch, to-go and trucks, but schedule and situations will vary, so more leisurely lunch, snack or even dinner places are all welcome. Seems that there should be a range of good Asian and Filipino options in the general area, as well as Mexican and Central American. I like a wide range of foods, and might even walk 1/2 mile for especially good kare kare.
A while ago there was a great thread on options near BART, but there wasn't much discussion around Peninsula stations:

Little Lucca is a local FAVE for sandwiches, although the line can get long during lunch time. After seeing the menu once, you could just call in the order and pick it up. Warning: it is a little messy.

re: Kayde
No problem, from what I remember, if you're taking the bus, it stops right by it. No matter what you get...garlic sauce, pepper sauce, plus dutch crunch bread are all musts! :)
And I've also heard from friends that the Chinese restaurant right next to it (shares a parking lot with Little Lucca), New Mandarin Garden, has good beef noodle soup. That's all they go there for.

Thanks so much for this. And it is right on route.
Today 2 of us stopped by Little Lucca (called ahead) and the sandwiches were wonderful and big enough for at least 2 meals. Classic combo, prosciutto - both on Dutch Crunch with the works, especially garlic sauce. Some handwritten specials sound good enough to make this a regular stop. The picnic tables on the side and back are clean, comfortable enough and convenient.
Funny thing: When I used to work near SFO at the base of San Bruno Ave., a coworker took orders and made a regular Friday run for great sandwiches, but I forgot the name or never knew it. The Little Lucca web menu seemed familiar, and the young guy at the register confirmed that "the airport guys" are still big regulars.
Also got Beef Stew Noodle Soup to go from New Mandarin Garden, listed under hand pulled noodles. Very good spicy beef broth with star anise, greens and chunks of beef, and the noodles are chewy. I would definitely get this again.-----

re: chaseshadows
I understand. If I ever got to be a Little Lucca regular again, I would definitely miss them when away.
Just finished those New Mandarin Garden beef stew noodles. Noodles and broth were packed separately so the soup lost nothing in reheating. Let me expound: Rich, rich, thick broth and what looks like great big chunks of short rib meat. Perfect spiciness - slow growing warmth in the back of the mouth that lingers on the tongue. Might work my way down the noodle soup options next time too. The House Special Noodle Soup is pork and shrimp, they told me.-----
