Tastespotting - a great but incredibly slow website

harryharry Apr 4, 2011 03:27 PM

I found out about Tastespotting on this website and I love it - however, lately it's been loading so slowly that I rarely go there - today I tried to post a comment on the contact page and it won't even load at all... anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

I can't say I've had any issues logging into Tastespotting but you might try cleaning your browser; an old cookie might keep the delay stuck in play. Try refreshing and revisiting to acquire a new "cookie" for the site. Or try logging in using a different browser, I use Google Chrome and it zips through the site pages.

eta: According to the site owners account, heavy upload traffic has hindered log ons for visitors. A common problem for upload volume on a very popular site for food bloggers.

It has been crazy slow for me too. I have been a big fan of foodgawker and was excited about tastespotting until it got so slow. When I try to submit postings or check to see if they have been accepted it takes min to load the pages. Seriously annoying.

If you like Tastespotting, you'll like Food Gawker too.
        Have not noticed any problems.

Strange - it still won't load on my computer - even tried Safari and Firefox... hmmmm

I do like Food Gawker, thanks for the reference - it's almost the same as Tastespotting - almost all the same recipes... interesting - which is the chicken and which is the egg?

            Tastespotting is the original.
Food Gawker came into being when Tastespotting mysteriously shutdown, due to legal reasons, for a month.

Another site that popped after Tastespotting had its one month hiatus.

The recipes/photos are very similar. Many bloggers cross-post between sites.
