Dinner with brown Students

Hi, I will be in Providence late April to see my daughter who is a student at Brown. Any suggestions for a late dinner with her and several friends? We've been to Al Forno, Gracie's, etc but am looking for something a little less expensive for a crowd. Ideas?

      1. Much is written on this very topic if you search the board, but off the top of my head Red Stripe and La Laiterie in Wayland Square (a neighborhood bordering Brown to the East) should serve you very well, although I'm not sure off the top of my head how much of a cost savings La Laiterie would be. Also consider Loie Fuller's or Broadway Bistro on the city's West End/Side.

        La Laiterie
184-188 Wayland Avenue, Providence, RI 02906

        Red Stripe
465 Angell St, Providence, RI 02906

        Broadway Bistro
        205 Broadway, Providence, RI 02903

Strong recommendation for Red Stripe. The kids will like it, it's got a nice atmosphere (loud, though). It can be very reasonable, depending on what's ordered. We tend to stick with excellent burgers and chicken sandwiches, with a mountain of the best fries in PVD (IMHO), which are less than $11 each. The mussels with fries are also a great value.

Thanks! Red Stripe sounds perfect and we're always up for great fries. Will let you know where we end up.

        2. When I saw your subject header, my mind immediately went back to my student days (at Berkeley), and I thought "brown students are just like white students. We like pizza and Chinese food!"

Shows the importance of capitalization, even on internet chat boards!

You're right! I didn't realize that I hadn't capitalized Brown in the heading of this post, any ideas on how to change it? Any ideas on where to EAT when we're in Providence?

No way to change it now. Im not much into the upscale restaurants you listed above or others that have been mentioned. If im in Providence I am at Angelos, United BBQ, or one of several ethnic restaurants. I usually stay away from the city
