Lunch deals

Reading the boards, I have noticed a number of places do a lunch deal that is much ,ore reasonable than dinner( bouley, Tocqueville, .......) . What lunch deals do you think are the best in the city for value and quality? This would be for a birthday lunch. Willing to spend $35-50 per person plus tax, tip and drinks.......

Thanks for your help!

Nice list, but fyi Bouley now charges $45 for the lunch tasting menu, and Convivio has closed.

Ok, so I have narrowed it down to 4 choices. Bouley, Jean Georges, Picholine, and Gotham. Out of those 4, which one is going to give us the best experience. This is a birthday lunch so looking for something special. I think we are leaning twoards Bouley but am still open to feedback.....

Thanks for all of your help!

I've dined at all four of the restaurants, and I would choose Bouley. To me, Bouley provides the best combination of food, service and value. Enjoy!

We went to Picholine for lunch a month back and it's a very staid scene. Service wasn't what I would call friendly. The food was fine, but the whole experience was somewhat depressing.

The lunch tasting menu at Bouley is terrific. I love Jean Georges and Picholine too but you'll get fewer courses for your budget. I haven't been to Gotham in a while.

Jean-Georges Nougatine. Lovely food, light airy space. Fanatastic deal (tho if you are a big eater you may find the portions on the small side - were perfect for me). Would have been worth the $$ just for the perfect warm shrimp salad.

Bouley's $45 5-course lunch tasting menu is an excellent value, and from recent reports, has wonderful food and service. I've only had dinner at Bouley, and have always loved it.

Sho Shaun Hergatt has a nice one, 3 courses and a bottomless glass of wine if you wish.
