Best take out burgers in Huntington Village or nearby?

I'm taking my husband for a little ride today, he is in hospital but almost ready to get out and I'm allowed to take him on day trips. I'm not a big burger lover but he sure is! I'm thinking Top Bunz? I promised him a milkshake with his burger and fries. I don't think I want Five Guys. We have to eat in the car unfortunately. Any suggestions? If not, I'll report back where we end up.

  1. I had a Patty Melt at Munday's a few weeks ago that was pretty good, better than one from Taby's in Oyster Bay around Christmas time. The chocolate shake was good, also. I'm sure they would do take out.

Thanks so much for a second choice, I'm leaving now to pick him up in Kings Park and will report where we end up. At least I see they take credit cards, which is a plus for me right now!

I guess it's too late for today, but I'd try Sapsuckers on Main St. Not a take out joint, but very good burgers, meat ground in house. And best wishes for a recovery from what ails him!

Thanks, he had a stroke so a slow recovery, and not up to actually going in anywhere yet. Can't wait til that time comes!

Anyway we ended up at Top Bunz so I could leave him in the car but keep an eye on him, and it was fine. Not mind blowing but we enjoyed it, despite eating in the car. I got the Crabby Burger or whatever they call it, I sort of wish they suggested that I put some of the free toppings on it, it was nice but with lettuce and tomato it would have been grand. The chocolate egg creams were as good as any I've every had though.

Glad you got him out on such a beautiful day... I know stroke recovery can be very slow, and it can also be much better than you expect in the end. Hoping the progress continues. I bet Sapsuckers would do takeout; every restaurant in this town has pickups any time I'm there, upscale and simpler, too. But no egg creams, and that would be a shame. :-)

Thanks for the encouragement, the egg creams really made our day! Tomorrow I'm taking him myself for the first time to a doctor appt in Setauket and pizza is on the menu! Whether Port Jeff or Wading River I don't know yet. But it better be good!
