Huarache Azteca in Flemington

  • 4

Had a great dinner here tonight. The name has actually changed and I can't remember the new name. Habanero something or other. It is still the same owner and the same menu as it was under the previous name.

Chicken tacos were fresh, tasty, and authentic; though nothing too earth shattering, flavor-wise. Garnished with onion, cilantro, lime and radish. The tacos al pastor were EXCELLENT. Lots of flavor and flecked with small chunks of grilled pineapple. Really, really delicious.Same garnishes as chicken tacos. Fish tacos, which were a special tonight, were GREAT. Grilled catfish, not fried. Topped with salad greens, guacamole, and a spicy salsa. They were very messy but really, really tasty and good. Lastly, we had the infamous Torta Cubana. It's not actually on the dinner menu, but it is on the lunch menu. We asked if it was available for dinner, and they were happy to accomodate. As previously described by another CHer, "it's sandwich nirvana."

Unfortunately, we were the only patrons there for dinner tonight. Main Street in Flemington has hit hard times and I hope this little gem doesn't become another one of the casualties.

  1. Huarache Azteca was renamed Habanero about 6 months ago. Same food and owners as Huarache - the people who own Viva Mexico on Broad St., which is also very good.

Sad for Main Street, but also sad for me. Goodbye to one of my favorite sandwiches EVER. :(

This is terrible! Such nice people, such good food. The Cubano was the best sandwich ever.
