Mt Veeder cab 2004 how did it get so pricey?

i have a wine that a friend gave me in 2007, a Mt Veeder Winery Cab 2004. I found it in the back of the closet and just for kicks looked it up and it's now worth $400 bucks? could this be right? can someone who knows anything about wine how this can be? I thought it was like a $25 bottle. clearly i like drinking wine but have little knowledge of it. thanks!

  1. Where did you see it sold for $400?

Is it likely some super premium Napa winery has a cabernet that's designated "Mount Veeder" as a sub-appellation?

    1. You are right, it's worth about 30 bucks. If it has been stored upright in the back of your warm closet for the past 6's worth pouring in your glass tonight to have with your pizza :)

      1. Actually, it probably sold for $25 when first released, and sells for about $40 now. If it has been sitting upright in a warm closet for these last 5 years, it probably isn't worth even that. But you can always try it and see.
