Lucques just around the corner on Melrose from La Cienega going east on the right side of the street has ond of the best short ribs dinners ever and their suckling pig is very tasty too.

For Italian Osteria Angelini at 7313 Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles just east of the Bev. Center (323) 297-0070 has some of the best food in LA.

However, neither one could remotely be called reasonably priced. For that try Mishima, Doughboys, Luna Park, Cobras and Matadors, Bread Bar et al.

Try Hirozen Sushi on Beverly Blvd (Orlando) in the mini-mall across the street from the LA Free Clinic. They have outstanding sushi and smaller plates and other entrees for reasonable prices, especially by wealthy westside standards.

Otherwise, I agree with Chowpatty-- doughboys, Joan's on Third, Quality Food and Beverage. Alternatively you can head over to the Farmer's Market @ 3rd and Fairfax to eat at multiple reasonably priced and delicious stands such as Pampas Grill (Brazilian char-broiled meat), Gumbo Pot, Loteria Grill, and many more.

Doughboys is great but just know that it has a kind of limited menu - almost only salads and sandwiches.

Joan's has great chicken!

I have to highly highly recommend Cynthia's, which is on 3rd, just 3 blocks or so east of the Beverly Center. It's a great American menu that includes salads, fish, meatloaf, among other things, and they are probably most well-known for their fried chicken. It is not a "heavy" fried chicken at all. It's still fried, but almost all white meat, and has tons of juices and flavors to it. I can barely help but order that every time I'm there. They've also got the best warm little round bread rolls as their "bread basket." And you must try the blackberry cobbler, topped with vanilla Haagen Daaz ice cream! And all of this for surprisingly cheap. I think the fried chicken (with vegetables and mashed potatoes) is like $10 or so.
