Dell'Anima/Mike Colameco

Using Mike Colameco's guide, we chose this restaurant on Eighth Avenue near Jane St, hosting a dinner for one of my banker wife's food industry clients. The entire evening was very nearly a reproduction of Mike's thoughtful and detailed review. With several bottles of wine and some after dinner drinks the bill with tip came to around $125 per head, worth every penny. The only caution is the noise level; since you basically eat in the bar area and are bracketed by the busy kitchen, the place is not conducive to quiet conversation.

Warmly recommended, very competent and attentive staff.

  1. I walk by there a lot and have wondered about the place. Thanks for recommending. Did not see Mike's review. Can you share a bit about what you ate? Separately, I saw Mike at Veritas the night before their Sifton review came out.

Being new to the board, I wanted to go to a place with great food and a lively crowd. There are several threads on this restaurant, definitely order the complete range of "toppings" to the bruschetta, the pollo fra diavallo, the Bolognese, everything we had was just right.

Mike doesn't need any defense from me, we spend summers in Cape May area and only wish he and his wife would find some wonderful chef and open another restaurant as charming and challenging as The Globe.

    2. Agreed...big fan and would definitely choose this over its younger sister, L'Artusi.

I finally went to Dell'Anima on Monday and I have to say I would choose L'Artusi any day. Dell'anima is waaayyy to salty for my liking. Although I will say I loved their bruschettas

      2. Yeah D'A does it right. Small, focused, relaxed, def a fan. I think their brunch has slipped, but dinner is great.

        1. i enjoy dell'anima quite a bit but there menu has not changed and im bored with it at this point. their pastas are fantastic though as is the front of house service.

i recently have been going to spasso instead and enjoy the food there even more than dell'anima. though, their service is pretty horrible. our server had no clue about wine.

i went to l'artusi when it first opened and was not impressed with the food or the space. it just doesnt do anything for me.
