Dining options in Orem/Provo or nearby
Smashburger is pretty good. Their mushroom swiss with a fried egg is my favorite there. Add a side of smash fries or sweet potato fries & I'm pretty happy.
My husband said last time he was in Provo, Smashburger, In n Out, & Five Guys were all on the same street (University Pkwy) within a few blocks of each other. If you love burgers, you could hit them all at once :)
2 great places to try that are both owned by the same group: Pizzeria 712 and Communal. Both use as many locally sourced items as possible. Pizzeria is in Orem, and Communal is in Provo. Communal also does breakfast Tues - Fri and brunch on Sat. Both take reservations on Open Table. Just down the street from Communal is Spark. It's Provo's attempt to have a hip, NYC style place. I prefer the vibe at Communal, but the food at Spark is good. For a quick lunch, there's a great new burrito shop called Mountain West Burrito. Again, the ingredients are either local, organic, or as fresh as possible ("We don't have a can opener.") It's half of an old gas station, but don't let that scare you off - the food is great (though skip the steak burritos - kinda fatty). JCW's is a local burger chain (this is their 3rd location in the valley, and just opened) that makes good burgers and thick shakes.
If you want to go a little further afield, The Tree Room and Foundry Grill at Sundance are great. Tree Room is quite fancy, Foundry Grill is more laid back. I love the Snake Creek Grill in Heber (35 or so minutes from Orem) - the mac and cheese side is the best!
