Agora Restaurant North Fort Myers
We had a lovely meal last night at Agora. Walking into the restaurant it feels a little like you are in the greek isles and have found a nice taverna. The owner was very much in evidence throughout the evening and our server was a very personable and capable young man.
We ordered an excellent bottle of pinot grigio that was well priced for a restaurant at $30. The list was small but well chosen. They had some Argentinian wines as well: malbec and torrontes.
We had the spanakopita which was the best I've ever tasted. Very light with fresh spinach, dill and feta on an exceptionally light phyllo crust.
My husband had a grilled veal chop that was served with a skewer of grilled shrimp. All marinated in a very tasty sauce. I had Swai, a pacific grouper which was simply outstanding. Also the greek green beans. Both came with a side Greek Salad, very lightly dressed and very crisp.
We will definitely return. The restaurant is in Marinatown on the river in North Fort Myers and is joined with a Irish tavern which was very well decorated and looks like a lot of fun. The owner of Agora said he inherited the Irish Pub when he took over the space. We will go back there sometime soon. Let's give these two places our support. Good greek food is hard to come by here in SW Florida. LMf

LMF - I went to this place tonight with my fiance and I'll have to admit I have mixed reviews. On one hand, the food was outstanding. I had the same dish as you and my fiance had the half chicken. We also shared the sampler for the appetizer. On the other hand, the service was sooooo slow and, sadly, it wasn't even busy at all. There were only 3 other tables, all of which was outside, and our table which was the only one inside.
I ordered a beer which took like 10 - 15 minutes for our server to return only to find out they were out of the beer that I ordered. Which at that point, my fiance ordered a beer and I told our server that I would need a few minutes to look over the wine list. Another 10 minutes passed and a different server, this time a girl, brought my fiance her beer and at that point I ordered my wine. So it basically took us 20-25 minutes just to get a drink.
The service did approve when we got the girl. Overall, the food was very good and would go back. I just hope they'll be a little bit quicker.
