Thanks! The Brieing There with Creamy brie with spinach and sautéed apples on pecan raisin bread sounds wonderful.

Agreed . . . I am going to try them--they sound great. How is the execution at Clementine? I have never been there.

Food is always good. Parking is often a nightmare. Service can also be a nightmare. Yet, I keep coming back for the food.

95% of the food is terrific, service is indifferent, parking is horrible.

I am so excited to go finally try their grilled cheeses. I have heard for ages and never made it. I am off to pick up the Brieing There. I hope it is amazing! Has anyone had the Torta, or the Asparagus Melt? I considered those as well and will have to keep tasting.

I've had the torta before and it's awesome! If they have any of the blueberry coffee cake left, that's my favorite dessert.

I had the Asparagus Melt last week. It was delicious.

I was there last Saturday - I got the #6 Qormeh Sabzi Melt, hubby got the #10 Meaty Chili and Cheddar. It was a chilly afternoon and grilled cheese was the PERFECT lunch (but we agreed the #6 was the yummier of the two, by just a slight margin). Parking was a breeze - there were more open spots, both on the street and in the lot, than I've ever seen there before. Also, I've had bad experiences there where people just squat at the tables chatting or surfing the web while a huge queue forms - but this was not the case this time either.

P.S. If you are watching your cholesterol, this is not the menu for you - these sandwiches are full of fat. I think they may even butter the bread before grilling, which is really gilding the lily.

That's not "gilding the lily", that's simply how one makes a grilled cheese! Never was diet food, never will be. The Owen kids, alas, will just have to hope they do it again next year, and with that menu! I think we'll want to round up as much of our posse as possible to bring along, just so we won't be confined to tasting only two; they all look really good.

They do it every April, Will; and it is never done healthy-style.

Of course they aren't, or they wouldn't be worth eating! But we're on a kind of weight-loss marathon right now, and while we make room for occasional indulgences, like grits with Sunday breakfast, a grilled-cheese sandwich lunch is out of the question. If I can just get my bod on the sunny side of 200, then there might be leeway for a nice gooey fall from grace.

The four sandwhiches on the regular menu can be incorporated into the lunch special with 1/2 sandwhich or salad and soup, one of which is usually veg. Just sayin'...

The lunch special is a great way to eat grilled cheese and not feel too guilty. The lunch combo also comes with a drink or cookie so you can decide how good (or bad) you want to be!

Yesterday, I had the Bavarian (ham and gruyere on pretzel bread), a minestrone soup and a cookie (oatmeal sandwich with marshmallow cream). It was the perfect amount of food, and I didn't feel guilty at all! In fact, I'm ready to try another grilled cheese this week!

I have tried 9 of the sandwiches, and my favorite by far was Anastasia's Dream - an olive oil fried egg, burrata cheese, roasted cherry tomatoes on grilled country bread, topped with crispy pancetta. It takes grilled cheese to an entirely different level! I don't even like eating eggs either, but one of my co-workers convinced me that I had to try it.

Grilled Cheese Month at Clementine (sadly) ends tomorrow. They will still have four grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu until the next season. However, Anastasia's Dream (which will now be my dream as well) will be gone....

Do you think they will do the sandwiches on request? I forgot to go.

They usually have a few on the menu, and if they have the fixin's will make other. Very good tuna melt.
